About the position

I-State Truck Center is seeking experienced Journeyman Diesel Mechanic/Technician(s) for our Bismarck, North Dakota location. The ideal candidates will have certifications and specialize in various diesel engine products including Freightliner, Detroit, Allison, Cummins, CAT, MTU, and more. As a Journeyman Diesel Technician, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel engines and related components in trucks, buses, and other heavy-duty vehicles. The role requires a strong mechanical aptitude and excellent diagnostic skills. You will be expected to accurately and efficiently diagnose complex diesel engine conditions and perform necessary repairs while ensuring quality control to maximize customer satisfaction. Effective communication with peers, foreman, and the service team is essential, as is the ability to keep paperwork updated and submitted upon completion of tasks. Responsibilities

  • Repair and maintain diesel engines and diesel components used in various vehicles and diesel equipment.
  • Accurately diagnose complex diesel engine conditions and make necessary repairs.
  • Communicate effectively with peers, foreman, and service team regarding repairs.
  • Ensure quality control of work performed to maximize customer satisfaction.
  • Keep paperwork updated and submitted upon completion of tasks.
  • Meet requirements for certifications.

Requirements

  • Valid Driver's license (Bonus compensation for CDL holders).
  • Good work ethic, positive attitude, and reliability.
  • Excellent understanding of Detroit Diesel engines through the current GHG17 product.
  • Experience with other diesel engine platforms such as Cummins, CAT, & International is a plus.
  • Mechanical skills in Hydraulics, Brakes & Suspension, Manual Transmissions, Drive Train, and Automatic Transmissions are desired but not essential.
  • Physically able to lift and work with no restrictions.
