About the position

The Janitor position at NANA Regional Corporation involves providing essential cleaning and laundry services to maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of various facilities, including industrial housing and food service areas. This part-time role requires adherence to safety and sanitation standards while performing a variety of cleaning tasks, often in challenging weather conditions. The position is based in Valdez, Alaska, with a night shift schedule from Sunday to Thursday.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes safe work practices and proper PPE in all tasks.
• Cleans, vacuums, mops, and restocks various areas including hallways, offices, and restrooms.
• Sweeps, mops, scrubs, strips, extracts, waxes, and buffs all types of floors.
• Dusts and wipes down surfaces in both low and high areas.
• Uses appropriate equipment and cleaning solutions for all tasks.
• Removes and properly disposes of discarded materials and trash.
• May compact trash and transport it to disposal areas.
• Removes linen, towels, and trash from various areas.
• May require cleaning of indoor and outdoor smoking lounges.
• May change light bulbs and perform very light facility maintenance.
• Keeps building entryways free of snow and debris.
• Participates in and supports corporate safety programs.
• May operate a vehicle to work at satellite locations.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Some combination of education or experience that evidences a working knowledge of cleaning equipment and general cleaning processes.
• Ability to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) within 30 days of hire.
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record for the past three years.
• Must pass all pre-employment contract requirements including drug test and physical assessment.
• Ability to cooperate and work as part of a team.
• Ability to make decisions with little to no supervision.
• Must be able to be on feet for 10-12 hours per shift.
• Contract requires proficiency in English.

Benefits

• $2,000 Sign-On Bonus paid out over the course of one year; $500 after three months, $500 after six months, and $1,000 after one year of employment.
