About the position

The IT Technical Product Owner for the Managed Container Platforms Team at Costco Wholesale is responsible for defining product requirements, shaping the product roadmap, and ensuring the delivery of enterprise Kubernetes solutions. This role involves close collaboration with engineers, architects, and stakeholders to prioritize the backlog and drive value at the scrum team level, acting as the voice of the customer throughout the product lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Define and communicate the minimum viable product (MVP) for applications/products and supporting release plans.
  • Collaborate with Product Managers and technology stakeholders to define new or enhanced product requirements and functionality.
  • Prioritize the sprint backlog based on the product roadmap and business needs.
  • Create and author user stories with detailed acceptance criteria in the customers' voice.
  • Conduct formal reviews and acceptance of user stories implemented by the team within a sprint.
  • Drive user acceptance testing (UAT) activities with support from business and technology team members.
  • Participate in program-level ceremonies including product increment (PI) planning sessions.
  • Monitor and report on progress, risks, and challenges to stakeholders and leadership.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of Kubernetes and container orchestration platforms (OpenShift, AKS, GKE).
  • 3+ years as a Product Owner, Technical Product Manager, or similar role in the cloud or container technology space.
  • 5+ years experience working in agile software teams.
  • 3+ years Agile Product Owner experience.
  • Experience with JIRA, Azure DevOps, and related Agile tools.
  • Solid understanding of DevOps and software development processes.
  • Experience working in large-scale, enterprise environments.

Nice-to-haves

  • Agile Product Owner Certification.
  • Experience with remote teams.
  • Familiarity with observability tools and practices for Kubernetes platforms.
