About the position

The IT Systems Administrator is responsible for the installation, availability, reliability, performance, and maintenance of supported systems under limited supervision. This role involves working with IT staff to train employees on IT equipment, applications, and procedures, and responding to emergency IT situations during off-hours as required. The position includes day-to-day management, operational support, upgrades, implementations, and long-term planning for systems, particularly focusing on Microsoft Windows Server platforms and related software applications. The administrator coordinates maintenance and ensures the proper operation of core systems and applications, providing Tier 2 support to the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for remote monitoring and management (RMM) environment.
  • Manage Windows platforms, including Windows Servers and Windows Domain Services.
  • Coordinate administration using Windows Active Directory, including group policies, replication, troubleshooting, and upgrades.
  • Oversee configuration and day-to-day operations of the Enterprise printing environment.
  • Manage desktop experience, including image deployment, user state migration tools, software advertisements, and application metering.
  • Perform maintenance activities to keep environments up-to-date with urgent patches and releases.
  • Develop procedures, forms, exhibits, and hardware/software documentation.
  • Manage the Office365 ecosystem/platform.
  • Assist the Director of IT with the Server Lifecycle Plan.
  • Evaluate hardware and software to meet user requirements and make recommendations.
  • Monitor related systems and applications to ensure optimal performance.
  • Analyze, review, and alter computer systems to maintain and increase operating efficiency.
  • Train users on software, hardware, and operating systems.
  • Identify equipment specifications and order IT equipment according to budget.
  • Assist the Director of IT with the IT Continuity Plan, including disaster recovery procedures.
  • Provide Tier 2 support to the organization.
  • Perform root cause analysis and develop checklists for typical problems.
  • Document internal policies and develop training material for end-users.
  • Stay updated on new developments in the field through self-study and training.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in information technology systems, computer science, or a related field.
  • Experience in information technology systems or a related area.
  • Relevant experience may substitute for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid SC driver's license.
