About the position
The IT Systems Administrator is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the organization's IT systems infrastructure, ensuring the availability, reliability, and security of computer systems and servers across various locations. This role involves daily management of physical and virtual information systems, oversight of service operations, project management, and adherence to VCOM's Information Systems policies.
Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain the organization's IT systems infrastructure.
- Ensure the availability, reliability, and security of computer systems and servers.
- Oversee service operations including incident management, request fulfillment, problem management, and access management.
- Apply knowledge, skills, tools, and techniques to meet project requirements.
- Monitor and tune system performance and apply patches and upgrades to server operating systems.
- Develop, implement, and enforce security systems and monitor system logs.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair datacenter system problems.
- Document system configuration and changes and maintain inventory documentation for server infrastructure.
- Research, test, analyze, recommend, and implement new technologies and best practices.
- Collaborate with university staff and security experts to align technology with business needs.
Requirements
- AS in Computer Science or equivalent program; Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Windows systems administration experience.
- Knowledge of Microsoft RSAT, ITIL Best practices, and CISSP practices.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
