About the position

The IT Specialist (Sysanalysis) position within the Department of the Navy involves analyzing and refining systems requirements, conducting feasibility studies, and developing plans for implementing IT solutions. The role requires collaboration with clients to assess their needs and provide effective business solutions, while ensuring compliance with information assurance security principles. This position is critical for enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of IT systems within the Navy.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and refine systems requirements.
  • Perform analysis to define opportunities for new or improved business solutions.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and trade-off analyses.
  • Prepare business cases for the application of IT solutions.
  • Develop plans to implement, test, deploy, and train for each software/functionality release.
  • Enforce configuration management, change control, and information assurance security principles.
  • Design or conduct analytical studies or other research.
  • Develop government Statements of Work (SOW), Independent Government Cost Estimates (IGCE), and Business Case Analysis (BCA) or Abbreviated Systems Decision Papers (ASDP).

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
  • Must obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty.
  • Must obtain and maintain credentials as described in SECNAV M-5239.2 for specialty area System Requirements Planner code 641 within 12 months of appointment.
  • One year of Information Technology (IT) related experience in the federal service or private/public sector demonstrating competencies in Attention to Detail, Customer Service, Oral Communication, and Problem Solving.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with cybersecurity principles and practices.
  • Familiarity with government contracting processes.
  • Knowledge of IT project management methodologies.
