About the position

The IT Specialist (SYSADMIN) role at NAVAIRWARCENWPNDIV CHINA LAKE involves supporting the Range Support Division by ensuring the integrity and security of IT systems. The position focuses on technical research and development to foster innovation within the range infrastructure, while adhering to organizational policies and standards.

Responsibilities

• Conduct and participate in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the range infrastructure.
• Ensure that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational policies.
• Harden Windows and Linux systems per requirements, including Operating System (OS) patching, software patching, and anti-virus software management.
• Install and program routers and multi-layer network switches, including routing plans and managing Access Control Lists.

Requirements

• Experience with Windows and Linux system administration.
• Knowledge of system hardening techniques and security best practices.
• Familiarity with network infrastructure, including routers and switches.
• Ability to conduct technical research and development.

Nice-to-haves

• Certifications in relevant IT fields (e.g., CompTIA, Cisco, Microsoft).
• Experience with anti-virus software management.
• Knowledge of Access Control Lists and network security.
