About the position

The IT Specialist (SysAdmin) position at Naval Sea Systems Command is responsible for ensuring compliance of the Command's IT Network infrastructure with Federal, DoD, and Navy guidance. The role involves providing operational support for server and storage hardware/software, managing system outages, and ensuring system availability and ATO support. The specialist will also troubleshoot performance issues and maintain high availability of IT resources for the customer base.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a SYSADMIN responsible for compliance of the Command's IT Network infrastructure.
  • Provide operation and support for server and storage hardware/software.
  • Coordinate and communicate system outages to support timely application of Windows platform patches.
  • Play a pivotal role in System Availability and ATO Support.
  • Establish and manage highly available IT hardware and software to ensure maximum availability to the customer base.
  • Inspect hardware and software operational parameters to detect performance issues and respond promptly with troubleshooting.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
  • Must successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
  • Must be registered for Selective Service if born after 12-31-59.
  • Must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Must wear personal protective equipment continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Must obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty.
  • Specialized experience equivalent to the next lower band NT-03 (GS-09 and GS-10 equivalent) in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Nice-to-haves

  • Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in a related field.
  • 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree.
