About the position

The IT Specialist (SysAnalysis) position at the U.S. Census Bureau involves applying technology and management principles to enhance computer methods across various subject matter situations. The role focuses on supporting users by developing applications, resolving software and hardware issues, and conducting needs analyses to improve business processes.

Responsibilities

• Applies available technologies and basic management principles to adapt computer methods to various subject matter situations.
• Supports subject matter users by developing or designing applications for computers and assisting in selecting computer equipment.
• Responds to and resolves problems with software, hardware, and systems management.
• Performs needs analyses to define opportunities for new or improved business process solutions.

Requirements

• One year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 in the Federal service.
• Experience analyzing needs and product requirements to create software designs and code based on specific rules.
• Investigating system concepts and interactions to identify or predict software engineering problem areas.
• Conducting studies and recommending courses of action, and independently developing complex routines of internal programs by coding, testing, and debugging.
• Providing system support for software lifecycle phases.
• Consulting with customers to refine functional requirements and develop design specifications.
• Knowledge of JAVA, Oracle SQL, or Oracle PL/SQL is preferred.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in the federal service or private/public sector demonstrating competencies in Attention to Detail, Customer Service, Oral Communication, and Problem Solving.
