About the position

The Business Systems Analyst at UCSF plays a crucial role in providing functional support and expertise for Research Administration Systems (RAS) and related integrations. This position serves as a bridge between end-users and technical development resources, requiring advanced knowledge of system support, including requirements analysis, data documentation, and the software development life cycle. The analyst is responsible for problem-solving, ensuring system integrity, and creating solutions that enhance business applications.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily end user support and triage complex system problems using incident management procedures.
• Conduct extensive data analysis and system integrity reviews.
• Gather and document operational requirements from end users and key business stakeholders.
• Translate requirements into functional specifications for development resources.
• Execute activities within established Software Development Life Cycle procedures.
• Create training materials for system support and change management.
• Collaborate and lead cross-functional teams to solve complex business or systems issues.
• Ensure successful implementation of software maintenance and new functionalities.

Requirements

• Advanced knowledge of functional and technical aspects of system support.
• Experience with requirements analysis, data documentation, and system design.
• Strong problem-solving skills and application of design principles.
• Exceptional documentation and communication skills, both written and oral.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with PeopleSoft modules for Grants, Contracts, Projects, Billing, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and General Ledger.
• Familiarity with research administration processes and systems.
