About the position

The Irrigation Foreman at Seagate Hospitality Group is responsible for overseeing the irrigation systems on the golf course, ensuring optimal conditions for the turf and greens. This role requires a blend of leadership, technical knowledge in hydraulics and electricity, and a strong understanding of agronomy and turf science. The foreman will supervise a small crew, manage daily operations in the absence of senior staff, and maintain the irrigation system to support the golf course's upkeep.

Responsibilities

• Supervise a small labor force for special projects and provide clear direction and safety support.
• Report golf course conditions to the golf course superintendent or assistant superintendent.
• Open the maintenance shop and run operations in the absence of senior staff.
• Repair and ensure proper operation of the irrigation system as needed.
• Water greens, tees, and fairways as required.
• Repair greens with plugs of new grass when needed.
• Aerify greens, verticut, mow tees and greens, and operate various equipment as directed.
• Change pins and tee markers as requested.
• Ensure a safe work environment for all crew members.
• Assist the Golf Course Maintenance team as required.

Requirements

• Valid driver's license is required.
• Ability to operate trucks and light motorized equipment.
• Working knowledge of basic electricity and hydraulics related to irrigation systems, including automatic valves and controllers.
• Knowledge of agronomy, turf grass science, and the rules of golf.
• Ability to ensure co-workers are working safely and effectively.
• Possess leadership qualities and a willingness to learn.
• Strong work ethic and dependability.
• Ability to understand and follow oral instructions.
