About the position

The Investment Paralegal Manager at the Public Safety Personnel Retirement System (PSPRS) is responsible for overseeing the paralegal and support staff within the Investment Counsel team. This role involves managing investment transactions, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in legal documentation, and providing legal support to the Chief Investment Counsel. The position emphasizes collaboration, training, and maintaining confidentiality while handling sensitive information related to investment activities.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, assign work duties and prioritize assignments to the paralegal within the Investment Counsel team.
  • Train paralegal staff on department processes and establish methods to measure progress.
  • Manage and review the work of the Paralegals on a weekly basis, ensuring deadlines are met and documents are processed timely.
  • Prepare or direct staff in tracking and coordinating the preparation of contracts and related documents for signature and closing.
  • Provide legal support services to Chief Investment Counsel and staff, including preparation and analysis of legal documents.
  • Conduct preliminary legal research, analysis, and investigations.
  • Assist in maintaining the Chief Investment Counsel's calendar and internal office functions.
  • Oversee maintenance of official book of record for each investment contract.
  • Coordinate and assist with responding to documentation requests from external and internal groups.
  • Attend and participate in Board of Trustee, Agency and departmental team meetings.

Requirements

  • Senior level Paralegal experience
  • Paralegal Certificate
  • 2 years of supervisory experience
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a high-stakes environment

Nice-to-haves

  • Paralegal Certification through certifying entity such as NALA
  • 3+ years of experience with law firm, public pension, investment advisor or other financial/asset management related organization
