About the position

The Debt Private Placement (“DPP”) Analyst is an intermediate level position responsible for assisting in providing Mizuho's clients with support to raise funds in the 4(a)(2) debt private placement market. The DPP Team's primary objectives include strategic advisory services for mergers, acquisitions, and corporate and structured financing transactions. The DPP team works in coordination with Banking and Coverage teams internationally across a broad spectrum of sectors. The overall objective of this role is to act as a strategic advisor to our clients by formulating investment strategies and raising capital for clients. An Analyst is expected to understand the implications, identify key industry and product trends and provide input on pitch and deal material to enhance the ultimate deliverable.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with senior team members and partners on the Banking and Debt Capital Markets teams to win and execute live client transactions.
  • Prepare written recommendations, credit analysis, and valuations to be used in pitches and to market live deals.
  • Build complex financial models for valuation and debt sizing of Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) and Project Finance opportunities.
  • Organize and analyze sophisticated financial data used in client proposals and strategic plans.
  • Conduct extensive quantitative economic, industry and company research and analysis.
  • Provide client-facing support for origination and deal execution efforts, including engaging in active, direct, verbal and written communications with institutional investors.
  • Prepare proposals for business opportunities.
  • Author marketing materials for live transactions.
  • Obtain proficiency in key corporate bond market sectors, relative value positioning and bond pricing.
  • Maintain database of private deal information, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Assist in the development and continued cultivation of client relationships.

Requirements

  • 1-2 years of relevant experience.
  • Aptitude to synthesize large amounts of information and develop innovative ideas and/or product solutions.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work under pressure and adhere to tight deadlines.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and ability to convey ideas.
  • Creativity and intellectual curiosity.
  • Exceptional teamwork capabilities and leadership potential.
  • Ability to work independently and must be able to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Prior experience with financial statement analysis and credit markets preferred but not required.
  • Series 79, and 63 licenses (Mizuho will sponsor new employees to obtain these licenses).
  • Proficiency in MS office suite.
