About the position

The Investigative Assistant (Spanish) position is located in the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) within the Department of Labor. The role focuses on enforcing affirmative action and equal employment opportunity for job seekers and wage earners who engage with federal contractors. The incumbent will be responsible for reviewing compliance case files, monitoring consent decrees, and assisting Compliance Specialists in investigations and reviews, particularly involving Spanish-speaking individuals.

Responsibilities

  • Review case files in the Compliance Management System (CMS) for completeness and ensure appropriate documents are uploaded according to OFCCP's naming convention.
  • Monitor the terms of consent decrees, conciliation agreements, and letters of commitment by evaluating reports as per supervisory instructions.
  • Extract statistical information from electronic case files to analyze underrepresentation among protected classes.
  • Collect previous compliance review reports, employment discrimination complaints, and reports from contractor firms, abstracting data needed for Compliance Specialists.
  • Participate with Compliance Specialists in on-site reviews and investigations by compiling statistical and factual information from contractor records and conducting interviews.
  • Respond to a variety of procedural and technical inquiries from callers and written requests for information.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and at least 16 years old.
  • Proficiency in Spanish is required for effective communication with individuals who may not speak English.
  • Specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-04 level in the Federal Service for GS-05 applicants, or GS-05 level for GS-06 applicants.

  • Experience coordinating travel arrangements and managing calendars.
  • Experience gathering data to assist in equal opportunity compliance reviews and investigations.
