About the position
The Intravenous Technician at PharMerica is responsible for preparing and compounding sterile medications in a non-retail pharmacy environment, focusing on the pharmaceutical needs of long-term care and senior living clients. This role involves working under the supervision of a Registered Pharmacist and ensuring compliance with quality standards and state regulations. Responsibilities
- Clean and maintain the Sterile Compounding room and ensure quality assurance as per USP 797 guidelines.
- Fill prescriptions and prepare sterile compounding under the supervision of a Registered Pharmacist.
- Stage, prepare, and fill orders for residents at long-term care facilities and for high-risk pregnant women.
- Compound sterile medications from non-sterile powders in a Class 100 clean room as directed by pharmacists and supervisors.
- Assist pharmacists with data entry and communication with nursing homes for refill orders.
- Maintain and clean IV pumps and ensure accountability of equipment.
- File, answer phones, and stock areas in the IV department as directed by the supervisor.
- Replenish and maintain Emergency Drug Kits (EDK) for Long Term Care Facilities.
- Communicate any concerns regarding USP 797 and operations to the pharmacist or supervisor.
- Ship and track Alere packages through third-party logistics.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 6 months to 1 year of IV pharmacy technician experience.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Licenses/Certifications as required by state regulations.
