Ensures customer retention and profitability by hiring, training, measuring the performance of salespeople and establishing customer-focused sales standards. This role involves understanding the psychology of Internet customers, directing staff to engage with them to drive store visits and close transactions, coordinating Internet promotions and advertising, and ensuring the dealership's website is effectively utilized. The manager also researches auto-buying services, acts as a liaison with them, and works with the Webmaster to keep the website updated. They must stay informed about and comply with all relevant federal, state, and local regulations affecting vehicle sales, and enforce dealership policies to maintain customer satisfaction and a positive image. Additionally, the role includes assisting individual salespeople with goal setting and support, conducting sales training meetings, implementing sales control systems, developing programs to increase unit gross and F&I penetration, planning sales contests and promotions, and increasing dealership profitability through manufacturer programs. Maintaining awareness of used vehicle market values and promoting teamwork are also key aspects of this position.
