About the position

The International Student Assistant is responsible for processing documentation for international students at the Community College of Allegheny County. This role involves providing administrative support within the Enrollment Services department and ensuring effective communication with students regarding their admissions and retention processes. The position is temporary and part-time, requiring in-person attendance and may include evening and weekend hours.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct day-to-day interaction with students.
  • Receive and process International Student Admissions documentation.
  • Communicate with students regarding requests for additional documentation.
  • Create reports in support of International Student Admissions and Retention.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of International Students.
  • Provide administrative support and coverage at the reception area when possible.
  • Support enrollment services by entering data in the Student Information System.
  • Provide excellent student and customer service by answering questions from visitors and callers.
  • Understand the new student enrollment process to direct student issues in a timely and professional manner.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree is required.
  • Minimum of one year previous student or customer service experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and Internet skills.
  • Excellent communication and public speaking skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work well with people.
  • Excellent written communication skills, especially in report writing and business correspondence.
  • Knowledge of the Community College and Higher Education system.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bi-lingual is preferred.
