About The Position

The Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at the University of Delaware is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented International Business Intern for the Fall 2026 semester. Under the guidance of Apryl King, a Business Advisor, the intern will gain hands-on experience in international business practices while supporting local companies in their global trade endeavors. Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree in International Business, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to conduct market research and data analysis.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • A keen interest in international trade and small business development.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Availability for in-person training and one on-site day per week at FinTech on STAR Campus is required, with the option for hybrid work on remaining days.
  • Applicants must be undergraduate students at the University of Delaware.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough research on international markets for 1-2 designated companies.
  • Identify suitable markets for the companies’ products or services, considering factors such as market viability, regulations, taxes, tariffs, and competition.
  • Assist in the development of comprehensive international business plans to facilitate effective cross-border trade.
  • Assist in the research, development, and implementation of educational programs focused on the fundamentals of importing and exporting.
  • Tailor educational materials specifically for small businesses to enhance their understanding of international trade.
  • If time allows, support SBDC clients with domestic market research.
  • Analyze industry trends, identify target customer segments, assess competitor landscapes, and gather data on consumer behavior and demand.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to help businesses refine strategies and identify growth opportunities within the U.S. market.
  • Collaborate on additional projects as they arise, contributing to the overall mission of the SBDC and supporting its clients in achieving their business objectives.
