About the position

Atelier New York Architecture is a dynamic architectural design firm located in Long Island City, NY, known for its pet-friendly and creative workshop environment. We are seeking enthusiastic recent graduates for a full-time internship position. This role is designed for individuals who have recently completed their Bachelor's degree in Architecture and are eager to gain hands-on experience in the architectural field. No prior experience is necessary, making this an excellent opportunity for those looking to start their careers in architecture. The internship will provide comprehensive training and exposure to various aspects of architectural practice. Interns will engage in surveying existing buildings, drafting existing conditions, and assisting with proposals, designs, and construction documents for projects of varying scales. Additionally, interns will learn about the submission processes to the New York City Department of Buildings and gain a foundational understanding of building zoning codes. We are looking for candidates who are committed to a long-term internship, as this position has the potential to lead to growth opportunities within the company. Interns will work closely with project teams and will be involved in essential duties such as surveying existing and as-built conditions on sites throughout the NYC area, drafting site conditions in AutoCAD, developing design proposals, preparing packages for the Department of Buildings and the Landmark's Preservation Commission, and assisting with various in-office tasks. This position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about architecture and eager to contribute to a collaborative team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Survey existing and as-built conditions on sites located throughout the NYC area
  • Draft existing site conditions in AutoCAD
  • Draft and develop design proposals
  • Prepare packages for Department of Buildings and Landmark's Preservation Commission

  • Assist with various in-office tasks

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator) preferred
  • Basic knowledge of building materials, components, and systems
  • Punctuality and good communication skills
  • Developing problem-solving and creative abilities
  • Demonstrate thoroughness in completing tasks and meeting deadlines

Nice-to-haves
