About the position

The Intern, Clinical Services assists Therapist Staff with individual, group and family therapy with clients. Assists Occupational Therapists with initial assessments, treatment planning, ongoing case management, discharge planning and aftercare development on cases. Assist the Occupational Therapists with documentation of treatment interventions and results in case records on a timely basis. Assists with the appropriate and ongoing training of direct care staff working with assigned team(s). Participates in child and family team meetings and coordinates ongoing treatment on assigned teams. Assists Occupational Therapists with ongoing projects, research and program administration as needed. Works with other departments as needed. This positions does not have direct reports.

Responsibilities

  • Assists Therapist Staff with initial treatment assessments and formulations.
  • Assists with Occupational Therapy delivery (individual and family).
  • Assists with Case Management (treatment interventions and case coordination with other disciplines).
  • Communicates with clients, referral sources, parents/guardians, school officials, etc.
  • Ensures timeliness of all necessary documentation.
  • Assists with ongoing projects and other disciplines such as the Wellness Committee and Playroom.
  • Completes all necessary documentation in medical records in a timely, thorough and professional manner.
  • Attends weekly supervision meetings to discuss case conceptualization and treatment goals.
  • Attends child and family team meetings on assigned cases.
  • Assists in the clinical training and therapeutic skill development of direct Care Workers.
  • Exercises sound, independent judgment and adequate emotional stability in evaluating situations.
  • Participates on committees and in professional meetings as necessary.
  • Ensures consistency in dealing with staff, residents, and the public.
  • Carries out other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Moving towards completion of a Master's or Doctorate degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited school/organization.
  • Completion of a Bachelor's degree or higher in Psychology, Social Work or related field.
  • Must successfully complete all new hire orientation and training requirements.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
