Neil Kelly Company is seeking a creative, charismatic, and client-focused Design Consultant to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a balanced skill set that includes sales, interpersonal communication, and interior design expertise. As a Design Consultant, you will work closely with a Project Manager, Design Associates, and Carpenters. You will be the first point of contact for clients, guiding them through the remodeling process to ensure a beautiful end result. Your typical day will involve meeting with clients, selling projects, setting project timelines, collaborating with outside vendors, and coordinating with your team to design, estimate, and complete residential remodeling work. This is a hybrid position with a requirement to be in the office three days a week. In this role, you will be responsible for generating leads, establishing client relationships, and applying your design skills to sell jobs while ensuring client satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle. You will assist clients with financing options, lead the design and sales process, coordinate billing with office staff, and participate in company events and showroom hours.

Responsibilities

  • Meeting with prospects and generating leads.
  • Establishing and maintaining client relationships.
  • Applying design skills to sell remodeling projects.
  • Ensuring client satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Assisting clients with financing options as needed.
  • Leading the design and sales process with clients and project teams.
  • Coordinating the billing process with office staff and reviewing for accuracy.
  • Participating in company special events and showroom floor hours.

Requirements

  • Degree in architecture, interior design, interior architecture, or housing design.
  • Five or more years of experience in residential home, kitchen, and bath design, including cabinetry.
  • Two or more years of sales experience with a proven sales track record and seasoned closing skills.
  • Understanding of the construction process, with a background in residential construction preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and adhere to timelines.
  • Well-developed customer service and client interaction skills.
  • A strong portfolio of built design work.

Nice-to-haves

  • NKBA certification.
  • Experience with Chief Architect software.
  • Experience running your own residential design business.
  • Experience designing and/or selling ADUs and new construction.
