About the position

The Interior Design Engineer II position at Honda involves overseeing development, testing, and research activities while providing technical guidance and project management. The role requires leading a medium-sized team, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring compliance with engineering specifications and safety standards. The engineer will also be responsible for continuous improvement initiatives and innovation within the engineering processes.

Responsibilities

  • Lead medium-sized teams and communicate project deliverables and plans.
  • Coordinate team activities on development, research, and testing activities.
  • Provide technical guidance and oversight on requirement achievement and test results.
  • Initiate and lead the design of complex assemblies and associated engineering specifications.
  • Gather data and provide feedback on design feasibility, costs, quality, and performance.
  • Manage relationships with internal stakeholders and coordinate resources for project success.
  • Compile and develop documentation to meet program deliverables.
  • Lead continuous improvement projects and create new technology internally or with suppliers.

Requirements

  • BS in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Automotive Engineering; BS in Industrial Design or equivalent industry experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in engineering or design roles.
  • Experience supervising and directing teams to achieve specific results within timeframes.
  • Comprehensive job-related experience in the area of expertise.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with cross-divisional or cross-company collaboration.
  • Familiarity with functional safety standards in engineering.
