About the position

The Interdisciplinary Physical Scientist-Biologist position at Fort Belvoir, VA, serves as a Survivability Scientist within the US Army Nuclear and Countering Weapons of Mass Destruction Agency. The role focuses on developing and implementing survivability and policy programs related to chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) threats, analyzing and advocating for Army policies, and collaborating with various Army commands to enhance operational strategies against weapons of mass destruction.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, coordinate, and implement CBRN survivability and policy programs.
  • Analyze, develop, advocate for, and defend DCS G-3/5/7 and Army policy related to technical and scientific interpretation of WMD effects into policy and procedures.
  • Develop survivability assessments of future Army units on WMD battlefields.
  • Collaborate and coordinate with Army Major Commands to assess multi-domain operations and Joint Force synchronization strategies for incorporating the deleterious effects from weapons of mass destruction.
  • Evaluate the requirements for policy development to support the introduction of new survivability technology.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in physical science, engineering, or mathematics with 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, or equivalent experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines, or equivalent experience.
  • One year of specialized experience integrating WMD or survivability requirements into mission critical documents; developing CBRN or survivability assessments of units; developing CBRN or WMD-related policy, regulations, and procedures.
