About the position

As an insurance defense attorney within our bodily injury (BI) unit, you will play a crucial role in our motor vehicle insurance defense litigation team. Your primary responsibility will be to provide legal representation to Progressive insureds and/or to the Progressive Insurance Companies before courts and arbitration panels in all aspects of litigation. This position requires you to handle cases from inception to resolution, which includes preparing legal pleadings, motions, statements, and trial briefs. You will also be actively involved in negotiating settlements, ensuring that the interests of our clients are well-represented throughout the process. In addition to litigation duties, you will work closely with clients and claims partners to prepare timely reports on litigation progress. It is essential to leverage all appropriate defenses to achieve positive outcomes for our clients. You will also be responsible for managing and processing releases and dismissals of lawsuits that are settled prior to any formal defense of the litigation taking place. Your analytical skills will be put to the test as you analyze written discovery, depositions, and medical records, assessing the value of claims to determine risk exposure. This role is integral to maintaining the integrity of our legal processes and ensuring that our clients receive the best possible defense. This is a hybrid position, which means you will have the flexibility to work from home while also being required to travel occasionally to the office for meetings and training. Candidates must reside within a reasonable driving distance of the office they support, ensuring that you can fulfill the in-person requirements of the role effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Provide legal representation to Progressive insureds and/or Progressive Insurance Companies in court and arbitration panels.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor degree or Master of Laws (LLM).
  • Admitted to practice law in the state in which working.
