About the position
The Insurance Biller ensures the accurate and timely completion of duties related to the billing of all hospital and home health claims assigned to the appropriate carrier. This role involves pursuing collection of all claims in a timely manner until payment is made by insurance carriers, ensuring payment variances are reviewed and resolved according to policy. The Insurance Biller acts as a patient advocate with departmental and hospital staff, insurance carriers, and patients to resolve billing issues and promote customer satisfaction. Additionally, the position requires assisting with projects as needed.
Responsibilities
- Ensure accurate and timely billing of hospital and home health claims.
- Pursue collection of all claims until payment is made by insurance carriers.
- Review and resolve payment variances according to policy.
- Act as a patient advocate to resolve billing issues and promote customer satisfaction.
- Assist with projects as needed.
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent required.
- Completion of online duty specific training required within 90 days of job start date.
- Two years of facility billing desired.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft and Office products, and basic office equipment required.
- Basic knowledge of Knox-Keene, ERISA, and California State laws that impact the billing process.
- Basic knowledge of HIPAA and California State Confidentiality laws that impact the release of medical information.

- Understanding of governmental agencies, commercial insurances, state & county compliance guidelines with regards to billing preferred.

- Minimum Pay Range: $22.69 - $28.37
