About the position

The Instrumentation Repair position is a full-time role at Haynes International Manufacturing Headquarters in Kokomo, IN. The job involves working with a variety of complicated instruments and electronic equipment, requiring a strong background in industrial maintenance and manufacturing. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, testing, troubleshooting, and repairing instrumentation, as well as training apprentices in the Instrument classification.

Responsibilities

  • Working from work orders, verbal instructions, complex blueprints, schematics, plans, and sketches, will lay out, install, test, troubleshoot, inspect and/or repair a wide variety of complicated instruments and electronic equipment.
  • Designs and/or fabricates and assembles apparatus and equipment, or adapts electrical or electrical devices for special applications, determines proper sizing and selections of materials and equipment.
  • Assists, directs, and trains the apprentice in the Instrument classification.
  • Operates various material handling equipment such as floor controlled or overhead cranes, prime movers, work savers, fork lift trucks and Man lifts in performance of work incidental to the craft.
  • Calibrate various instruments and complete records.
  • Conduct Furnace temperature surveys.
  • Fabricate, calibrate, and keep records on thermocouples.
  • Repair printed circuit boards.
  • Repair AF and RF control circuits and systems such as radio controlled cranes and furnace doors.
  • Troubleshooting, repair, and adjusting of Combustion Electronic Controls and Combustion Systems.
  • Maintain TV and interplant communication systems.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years old and possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Possess a bona fide Journeyman Certificate in the Craft or documentation substantiating at least 6 years of related experience in the Craft within an industrial maintenance and manufacturing environment.
  • Punctual and regular attendance.
  • Successful completion of writing sample.
  • Ability to perform the essential job functions.
  • Ability to perform the essential physical requirements of the position.
  • Demonstrated instrumentation skills within an industrial maintenance and manufacturing environment.
  • Mathematics skills - add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers and common fractions.
  • Language skills - Read and interpret safety policies, operating and maintenance procedures, emergency procedures, and various manuals; write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Reasoning ability - ability to apply common sense and understanding; ability to carry out detailed but uninvolved written and oral instructions.
