As part of a small, hardworking and accomplished team of aerospace technicians, you will be responsible for Launch Operations, Vehicle processing, Launch and Recovery support, facility operation, maintenance and test article integration for various spaceflight systems within the New Shepard space flight program. You will share in the team's impact on all aspects of the program in support of both Human and Payload flight schedules. We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise, leadership skills, and commitment to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight. Responsibilities

  • Fabricate, route, and integrate pressurization and propellant tubing.
  • Perform checkout of test articles and wire harnesses.
  • Integrate test articles and carry out comprehensive system checkouts.
  • Perform maintenance on mechanical components and systems.
  • Troubleshoot fluid components, instrumentation, valves, and leaks.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues with instrumentation and systems.
  • Offload propellant safely and efficiently.
  • Handle hazardous chemicals and high-pressure systems with strict adherence to safety protocols.
  • Review, edit, and follow detailed test procedures.
  • Operate the test facility in accordance with established protocols.
  • Adhere to 5S and Foreign Object Debris (FOD) control procedures.
  • Work alongside engineers to develop and improve design concepts.
  • Plan and communicate assembly steps for complex mechanical installations.
  • Provide constructive feedback on the design of Ground Support Equipment (GSE) and test articles.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in fluids testing, processing, and facility support specifically in testing rocket or jet engines or similar applications.
  • Experience handling test, flight, and safety-critical hardware.
  • Proficiency in using standard mechanical tools and fabrication shop equipment.
  • Familiarity with low and high-pressure pneumatic systems, as well as propellant loading and off-loading systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings accurately.
  • Physical capability to lift up to 40 lbs, work in adverse weather conditions, and climb stairs and ladders.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.

Nice-to-haves

  • 12+ years of experience in propulsion facilities/systems or launch vehicle processing for flight operations, including Launch and Recovery Ops, Rocket and/or Crew Capsule System Maintenance, Integration, and Testing.
  • Completion of a 2-year vocational degree with a relevant mechanical curriculum, possession of an A&P license, or equivalent military training.
  • Working knowledge of various rocket propellants and launch facility cryogenic support systems, including Liquid Hydrogen, Liquid Oxygen, Liquid Nitrogen, and Liquid Helium.
  • Proficiency in using 3D CAD tools, with a preference for experience in CREO.
  • Familiarity with tube fabrication techniques, such as bending, flaring, fittings, and proof & test, as well as pressurized system safety practices.
  • Experience in operating heavy lifting equipment, such as cranes and forklifts, around flight-critical hardware.
  • MIG/TIG, orbital welding experience.
  • Ability to recommend methods and solutions to help develop effective maintenance, integration, and testing procedures.
