About the position

The University of Central Florida is seeking two full-time instructors or lecturers in English Technical Communication to join the Department of English within the College of Arts and Humanities. These positions are non-tenure earning and will involve a 4/4 teaching load, primarily focused on teaching the introduction to technical communication course, with opportunities to teach upper-level electives. The roles are anticipated to begin in August 2025, with a significant emphasis on both online and face-to-face teaching.

Responsibilities

  • Teach courses in technical communication, including ENC 3241: Writing for the Technical Professional.
  • Develop and deliver course materials for both online and face-to-face classes.
  • Engage in student assessment and provide constructive feedback.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to curriculum development.
  • Support students in their learning and professional development.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in English or a related field for instructor position.
  • Ph.D. or terminal degree in English or a related field for lecturer position.
  • Successful experience teaching technical writing or working in the field of technical communication.
  • Strong writing and communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Interest or experience in teaching introductory technical communication courses.
  • Experience teaching upper-level electives such as professional communication, project management, and data visualization.
  • Interest in hybrid and asynchronous online teaching.
