About the position
The University of Central Florida is seeking two full-time instructors or lecturers in English Technical Communication to join the Department of English within the College of Arts and Humanities. These positions are non-tenure earning and will involve a 4/4 teaching load, primarily focused on teaching the introduction to technical communication course, with opportunities to teach upper-level electives. The roles are anticipated to begin in August 2025, with a significant emphasis on both online and face-to-face teaching.
Responsibilities
- Teach courses in technical communication, including ENC 3241: Writing for the Technical Professional.
- Develop and deliver course materials for both online and face-to-face classes.
- Engage in student assessment and provide constructive feedback.
- Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to curriculum development.
- Support students in their learning and professional development.
Requirements
- Master's degree in English or a related field for instructor position.
- Ph.D. or terminal degree in English or a related field for lecturer position.
- Successful experience teaching technical writing or working in the field of technical communication.
- Strong writing and communication skills.
Nice-to-haves
- Interest or experience in teaching introductory technical communication courses.
- Experience teaching upper-level electives such as professional communication, project management, and data visualization.
- Interest in hybrid and asynchronous online teaching.
