About the position

The Instructor of Logistics at Houston Community College is responsible for delivering high-quality education in logistics and supply chain management. This full-time faculty position involves teaching a full load of courses, engaging in academic advising, and participating in professional development and community service activities. The instructor will utilize various teaching methodologies and technologies to enhance student learning and will be expected to maintain professional relationships with students and colleagues while contributing to the college's mission and goals.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate skill and/or knowledge in teaching discipline.
  • Make continuous efforts to improve the quality of instruction by reviewing and utilizing innovative methodologies, techniques, and delivery methods.
  • Plan, develop, and use a variety of teaching methods and materials that assist students in meeting course objectives.
  • Evaluate students to measure their progress toward achievement of stated course objectives and inform them of their progress in the course in a timely manner.
  • Keep accurate student records and submit related reports and forms within requested timelines.
  • Review, evaluate, and recommend student textbooks and learning materials.
  • Teach courses at a variety of times and locations in response to institutional needs.
  • Use equipment and facilities responsibly and courteously.
  • Demonstrate competence and interest in the use of technology in the classroom.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics/Supply Chain Management or Management required.
  • 3 years' work experience in Business or Logistics/Supply Chain Management required.
  • Experience in quality improvement, lean or six sigma, customer focused strategic planning preferred.
  • 1 year college-level teaching experience preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree with 18 completed graduate hours in Business, Logistics/Supply Chain Management or Management preferred.
  • Teaching experience in a correctional setting preferred.
