About the position

The Instructor/Lecturer of Computer Science at Alma College is a full-time, non-tenure-track position beginning in Fall 2025. The role involves teaching six units throughout the academic year in various modalities, with a focus on undergraduate education. The department seeks an experienced faculty member committed to excellence in teaching, particularly in areas that engage undergraduates such as Computer Security, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Data Analytics, and Web Programming and Mobile Computing.

Responsibilities

• Teach six units throughout the academic year in various modalities.
• Develop and deliver engaging course content in Computer Science.
• Mentor and support undergraduate students in their academic pursuits.
• Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to curriculum development.
• Engage in professional development and stay current with advancements in the field.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Computer Science or a closely-related field preferred.
• ABD or Master's degree in Computer Science or a closely-related field may be considered.
• Teaching experience at the undergraduate level is preferred.
• Demonstrated commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in teaching Computer Security, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Data Analytics, and Web Programming and Mobile Computing.
• Ability to teach in different modalities.
