About the position

The faculty position involves providing effective instruction and student advisement for the doctor of chiropractic degree program. Faculty members are expected to engage in activities that represent instruction, scholarship, and service to the college and community. This role requires a commitment to the mission of Sherman College and involves responsibilities in teaching, professional development, and community service.

Responsibilities

  • Provide students with an effective guided educational experience in chiropractic.
  • Contribute to the development of students' knowledge, skills, attitudes, and competence in chiropractic.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of the educational program.
  • Stay updated on best practices in course design and educational technology.
  • Collaborate with the department of teaching and learning to enhance teaching methodologies.
  • Continuously update course content and provide a supportive learning environment.
  • Prepare and administer valid student assessments.
  • Provide ongoing instructional feedback to students.
  • Prepare and submit quarterly syllabi and examinations.
  • Exhibit a professional communication style.
  • Participate in examinations as requested.
  • Maintain clean classrooms and report equipment malfunctions.
  • Meet faculty responsibilities as outlined in the Faculty Handbook.
  • Participate in professional development activities.
  • Engage in continuous improvement of teaching and learning.
  • Demonstrate student learning outcomes and identify deficiencies.
  • Maintain necessary certificates and licenses.
  • Post and maintain student office hours.
  • Participate in shared governance and serve as a faculty mentor.
  • Attend required college events and meetings.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Chiropractic degree.
  • Strong desire to share chiropractic philosophy, science, and art.
  • Required degree within specific teaching discipline.
  • Three years of full-time chiropractic practice and/or teaching experience preferred.
  • Strong organizational and supervisory skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain classroom decorum.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and Learning Management Systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in curriculum development.
  • Familiarity with educational technology integration.
  • Previous experience in a faculty role.
