The position is for an unclassified faculty member in the Science and Mathematics department at Delgado Community College. The faculty member will be responsible for maintaining performance standards and pursuing goals that promote the College's mission. Responsibilities include providing meaningful instruction, participating in professional development, and creating an equitable learning environment. Faculty members will be evaluated annually and are expected to collaborate with colleagues, develop course syllabi, and utilize various assessment strategies to maximize student success. The role also involves advising students, participating in recruitment activities, and adhering to College policies.

  • Participate in professional development activities that enhance effectiveness.
  • Attend and provide meaningful instruction for all class sessions during the semester.
  • Make adequate preparation for the instructional process to ensure professional presentation of course content.
  • Create a learning environment in which all students are treated equitably and with respect.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in the selection of resources and development of master course syllabi.
  • Develop and distribute course syllabi within the first week of the semester.
  • Administer final examinations during scheduled exam periods.
  • Use a variety of assessment strategies throughout the semester.
  • Maintain accurate attendance, progress, and evaluation records.
  • Monitor student enrollment and direct non-enrolled students to appropriate offices.
  • Adhere to timelines established by the College regarding grade submission and student attendance.
  • Instruct students in the safe and proper use of equipment and supplies.
  • Maximize the use of advanced technology in the classroom.
  • Provide instruction in accordance with legal requirements and College policies.
  • Serve as academic advisor and participate in recruitment and retention activities.
  • Assist students with job opportunities and educational information.
  • Attend meetings, Faculty Convocation, and Graduation Ceremonies.
  • Be receptive to requests for voluntary service in various capacities.
  • Communicate effectively with all members of the College community.
  • Adhere to the work week requirements set forth in the College's Workload Requirements policy.
  • Represent the College positively within the community.
  • Masters of Science in Biology, Anatomy and Physiology, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Chemistry, or closely related field with 18 hours of graduate work in the physiology, anatomy and/or microbiology field.
  • Post Baccalaureate degree in Medicine, Nursing, or Public Health with 18 hours of graduate work in Anatomy and Physiology.
  • Master's Degree and teaching experience at the collegiate level.
  • Research experience in graduate school is preferred.
  • Experience in anatomy and physiology instruction and laboratory preparation.
  • Demonstrated breadth and depth of scientific literacy.
  • Thesis based Master's Degree.
  • Teaching experience at the collegiate level.
  • Research experience in graduate school.
  • Experience in anatomy and physiology and microbiology laboratory preparation.
