About The Position

The Instructional Paraprofessional is responsible for providing support to the intervention program within assigned classroom with specific responsibility for improving students' success in basic academics (reading and math); relieving teachers of clerical tasks; and assisting students by modeling the skills necessary to perform assignments. This job is posted for the 2026/2027 school year.

Requirements

Minimum of high school education or GED.
Ability to use effective communication skills.
Ability to use time effectively.
Good organizational skills.
Ability to maintain a positive relationship with other staff by collaborating and working cooperatively with them (including supervisors).
Ability to operate standard office equipment and software applications.
Ability to prepare and maintain accurate records.
Knowledge of instructional techniques.

Nice To Haves

1+ years of experience working in a school is preferred.

Responsibilities

Administers a variety of assigned activities (e.g. tests, homework assignments, make-up work, etc.) for the purpose of supporting teachers in the classroom.
Attends meetings (e.g., in-service presentations and staff meetings) for the purpose of acquiring and/or conveying information relative to job functions.
Communicates with supervising instructional staff and professional support personnel for the purpose of assisting in evaluating progress and implementing IEP objectives.
Evaluates students during the course of the school day (e.g. completion of assignments, life skills, response sequence, etc.) for the purpose of taking action and/or providing referral for resolution.
Maintains a variety of materials (e.g. instructional materials, files, records, charts, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring availability of items, providing written reference, and meeting mandated requirements.
Monitors individual and/or groups of students in a variety of settings for the purpose of ensuring students are in a safe and appropriate environment.
Promotes good study habits for the purpose of improving the quality of student outcomes.
Manages a variety of assigned activities for the purpose of providing a safe and optimal learning environment.
Monitors students during assigned periods within a variety of school environments for the purpose of maintaining a safe and positive school environment.
Provides instruction to students in a variety of individual and group activities (e.g. reading, spelling, self-esteem, behavioral skills, daily living skills, etc.) for the purpose of reinforcing instructional objectives; implementing IEP plans, and ensuring students success in school all under the supervision of assigned teacher.
Provides adapted classroom activities, assignments, and materials under the direction of the supervising teacher (e.g., reading circles, one-on-one math instruction, etc.) for the purpose of supporting and reinforcing classroom objectives.
Provides feedback of observations for the purpose of informing teachers and administrators of student progress.
Responds to inquiries from a variety of sources for the purpose of solving problems, providing information, and directing to other sources.
Responds to emergency situations (e.g. injured student, school drills, etc.) for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns and directing to appropriate personnel for resolution.
Tutors students on assigned class work for the purpose of providing ongoing support in the completion of work assignments.
Follows the policies and procedures of the school and the District.
Demonstrates a sense of professional responsibility, such as demonstrating ethical behavior; providing accurate data and reports when needed; meeting deadlines; maintaining confidentiality; caring for the equipment and materials; and dressing appropriately and presenting a good role model.
