Provides assistance to assigned student in line with the child's Individualized Educational Plan. This role requires maintaining high levels of ethical behavior and confidentiality, learning to use specialized communication devices, and carrying out personal health and safety protocols, including toileting as necessary. The Instructional Assistant will compile daily accomplishment and behavior reports for educators, substitute for teachers as requested, and assist in developing and implementing reinforcement programs. Participation in in-service and professional development programs is also expected. The role involves providing information for progress reports, escorting and assisting students throughout the building, and performing other assigned duties. The ability to work with children of varying abilities, implement behavior plans, arrive promptly, support school policies, and engage students in activities that develop self-worth are crucial. Effective communication, modification of student work, and maintaining cooperative relationships are essential. The role also requires problem-solving skills, understanding directions, organizing work, and providing assistance to parents and staff.
