About the position

The Instructional Aide - Culinary Arts position at Moraine Park Technical College is a part-time role focused on supporting the Culinary Arts Program. The aide will assist with various tasks including purchasing, program outreach, recordkeeping, and facilitating practical experiences for students. This role is essential in promoting the program and ensuring smooth operations within the culinary department.

Responsibilities

• Assist with planning and carrying out events that provide the Culinary Program students with practical experience.
• Assist with program promotion within the College and outreach to the MPTC community, including district high schools.
• Process purchase orders and invoices for the Culinary Arts program.
• Order, receive, verify, and maintain food supply inventory and storage areas. Record accurate counting of inventory.
• Set up and operate cash register for bakery and restaurant sales. Assist with coordinating orders and selling as needed. Count, balance, and record cash register monies. Make cash deposits and record daily figures.
• Assist with student Culinary Club.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One year of related customer service experience.
• Ability to operate a computerized cash register and make accurate change.
• Knowledge of software applications, including Microsoft Office 365 (Office Suite, Teams, SharePoint, etc.).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to take initiative, work independently with little supervision, and make sound decisions with minimal direction.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse populations.

Nice-to-haves

• Associate degree in Culinary Arts or a related field.
• Wisconsin Safety and Sanitation Certification.
• Knowledge of safe food handling and sanitation procedures.
