About the position
The Instructional Aide position at Jurupa Unified School District involves assisting teachers and specialists in supporting the instructional program and fostering the social and emotional growth of students. Responsibilities
- Assist in directing class activities based on specific instructions.
- Work with individuals or small groups of students under the supervision of a certificated professional.
- Prepare, organize, direct, and supervise instructional and recreational games and activities.
- Assist in the operation and supervision of learning centers.
- Assist in the preparation of instructional and training materials, such as charts, displays, signs, and drawings.
- Maintain classroom control according to policies established by the supervising person and the school administration.
- Correct workbooks, papers, and tests.
- Prepare for, assist with, and clean up after various classroom projects.
- Supervise students during play periods and on field trips.
- Perform routine clerical duties, such as keeping attendance records and preparing attendance reports.
Requirements
- Graduation from high school or its equivalent.
- Background experience with children and/or adolescents.
- Ability to understand, communicate, and be sensitive to the problems of students and their parents.
- Ability to read, write, and compute at the eighth-grade level.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
Nice-to-haves
- Knowledge of English usage, vocabulary, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and arithmetic.
