The Orientation and Mobility Instructor position at Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) focuses on providing specialized instruction to students with visual impairments, helping them develop the skills necessary for safe and independent mobility. This role is essential in supporting the educational journey of students, ensuring they are prepared for college, career, and life beyond school.

Responsibilities

  • Provide orientation and mobility instruction to students with visual impairments.
  • Develop individualized education plans (IEPs) for students.
  • Assess students' mobility skills and progress regularly.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to support student learning.
  • Conduct training sessions for staff and parents on orientation and mobility techniques.

Requirements

  • M.A. degree in Special Education/Orientation and Mobility Specialist.
  • Clinical or Rehabilitative Services Credential in Orientation and Mobility.
  • Valid California Driver License.
  • Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist (C.O.M.S) preferred.
