Installation Technician

About the position

Ferguson is currently seeking the right individual to fill an immediate need for a Fusion Field Technician. This is a remote role that will support the North Dakota/ South Dakota Region. Our ideal candidate must be in central time zone, preferably within easy commuting distance of locations in Fargo, ND, Bismarck, ND or Sioux Falls, SD.

Responsibilities

• Inspects work for defects, dimensions, alignment, end preparations, and seam splits in pipe
• Maintain a clean and safe machine station while conforming to Ferguson's standards of quality and performance
• Reports all equipment malfunctions, safety issues, and required repairs
• Accurately measure, record, and add random pipe length
• Follow proper procedures for measuring and cutting pipe with various saws
• Ability to move loose and/or bundled pipe from various locations within the pipe yard
• Read blueprints
• Assemble pipe orders whether in single sticks or bundles and maintain work supplies in an organized manner
• Operate powered industrial equipment in accordance with OSHA guidelines and Ferguson safe operating procedures
• Perform live watermain taps
• General warehousing when not on fusion or tapping jobs
• Travel for job in state and out of state
• Work with customer and vendors
• May be responsible for providing back-up driver duties and responsibilities

Requirements

• 3+ years mechanical machine experience required
• Must live in Sioux Falls, SD, Bismarck, ND or Fargo, ND
• Prior Fabrication experience is strongly preferred
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, etc.)
• Continued focus on improving system efficiencies and business practices
• Attention to detail, demonstrated integrity and professionalism
• Desire to learn new things
• The ability to thrive in an inclusive environment
• Prior experience in operating McElroy equipment in fusing HDPE / Fusible PVC pipe and fittings preferred
• Accurate training in the use of machines and fusion of HDPE & FPVC will be provided
• Must be at least 21 years of age
• Valid state issued license is required
• Possession of a DOT Medical Card or the ability to obtain a DOT Medical Card
