About the position

The Inspector In-Process position is responsible for testing and inspecting optical fiber and sub-cables at various stages during the production process. The role involves evaluating data to ensure the quality and reliability of products. The inspector will perform specific job responsibilities, promote service excellence, and comply with company policies and values.

Responsibilities

  • Selects optical fiber and sub-cables to be tested based on priorities set by production.
  • Strips optical fiber and sub-cables and uses OTDR testing equipment to test for length, breaks, and attenuation.
  • Observes, measures, and inspects optical fiber and sub-cables for qualities such as wall thickness, diameter, concentricity, print, and color as required per the shop order.
  • Evaluates data to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards.
  • Completes all inspection paperwork specific to this job function.
  • Promotes OCC's service excellence and quality, providing excellent service to customers and building strong relationships.
  • Champions OCC's vision and values; complies with policies and procedures, ethical standards, and Code of Conduct.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Six months of related experience and/or training preferred.
  • Ability to set up, run, and monitor test equipment in a production environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to use tools and measuring devices properly.
  • Ability to read and follow basic instructions and understand quality procedures.
  • Math and handwriting skills required to complete documentation accurately.
  • Ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision.
  • Attention to detail with the ability to complete assignments accurately and recognize and help resolve problems.
