Requirements

  • Must successfully complete helicopter operations training as conducted by the SRP Flight Operations Department. This will include harness training. Aerial inspection activities from helicopter include long hours exposed to the elements requiring use of a safety harness. For specific list of training or certifications contact departmental manager.
  • Employee must work safely and efficiently in the performance of their job duties.
  • Must maintain effective working relationships with other employees, customers and the public.
  • Must have the ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
  • Must be able to work with appropriate contacts in accessing secured areas, dedicated substations, manholes and mining areas.
  • May be required to work a reasonable amount of overtime.
  • Must possess the appropriate valid Arizona driver’s license.
  • Must be comfortable working at extreme heights for extended periods of time.
  • Proficiency in specialized computer applications to accurately input field inspection findings is required.
  • Knowledge of the SRP distribution and transmission system, standards and policies and procedures is required.
  • Working knowledge of infrared inspection procedures is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of 15 college credits (100+) related to the position from an accredited institution is preferred.
  • IBEW Apprenticeship (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Inspection of distribution and transmission assets including transformers, switches, fusing cubicles, capacitor banks, pole risers, terminations, poles, structures, grounds, guys, anchors, pole risers, conductors, insulators, hardware, manholes, clearances, and FAA required markers and lights, etc.
  • Identifies any and all defects of distribution and transmission line assets, and material or workmanship of construction and maintenance activities.
  • Often assists department engineer in locating system faults.
  • Is responsible for the documentation and data entry related to cyclical inspections of distribution and transmission line assets.
  • Requires a basic understanding of work procedures and safety requirements while performing job duties in the vicinity of energized electrical lines and equipment.
  • Is responsible for infrared measurements and identifying failing connections on the distribution and transmission systems.
  • Other duties as assigned.
