About the position

The Inspection and Repair Operator role at Flex is focused on supporting teams in the manufacturing process by performing inspections and repairs on electronic products. This position is essential for ensuring product quality and involves working with various inspection tools and techniques to identify and rectify defects in electronic assemblies. The role requires attention to detail and collaboration with peers and supervisors to maintain high standards of workmanship.

Responsibilities

  • Set up stations with the correct process inspection documents, screens, and/or workflow instructions.
  • Perform in-process and online 'go/no go' inspections of various types of electronics, subassemblies, peripherals, or larger assemblies, identifying defects according to workmanship standards.
  • Handle touch-up and repairs on defective products.
  • Interpret manufacturing process instructions and visual aids/drawings using tools like microscopes and magnifying lenses.
  • Scan products and enter information into the shop floor control system or manual tracking systems when applicable.
  • Adjust, trim, or otherwise process materials or components to achieve specified electrical requirements or dimensional characteristics.
  • Collaborate and communicate process problems to peers, supervisors/leads, and/or manufacturing support teams.
  • Document workload, calculating the number of products inspected and rejected.
  • Creatively use necessary materials needed to perform repairing operations.
  • Use machines, such as an Automatic Inspection machine, to detect defects.
  • Solder and sit for extended periods.

Requirements

  • Experience in electronics inspection and repair processes.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing process instructions and visual aids.
  • Ability to use inspection tools such as microscopes and magnifying lenses.
  • Basic knowledge of soldering techniques and electronic components.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify defects in products.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with shop floor control systems or manual tracking systems.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance standards in electronics.
