The Inpatient Rehab Nurse Assistant provides care to patients according to the plan of care, unit routine, and hospital policy under the direction of a Registered Nurse. This role involves the safe transport of patients via wheelchair or stretcher, dispatch services, and appropriate documentation. The assistant also serves as an Observer for patients requiring constant observation, either in person or via remote video monitoring, to maximize their safety. Additionally, the role performs general receptionist and clerical duties to facilitate the efficient functioning of the nursing unit and documents care provided in the electronic medical record. The Inpatient Rehab Unit is a 64-bed unit that treats a variety of patients, including those recovering from orthopedic issues (hip fractures, knee replacements, back surgery), neurological conditions (stroke, brain/spinal cord tumors, TBI, Parkinson's, MS), amputations, and other complex medical/surgical issues with functional decline. Patients on this unit participate in 15 hours of therapy across a 7-day week, and nursing staff continue interventions practiced in therapy to promote safe mobility.
