About the position

Berry Global is seeking a dedicated individual to join our Tooling Group. In this role, you will harness the strength of our diverse team and contribute to our mission of developing innovative products with a focus on the circular economy. You will have the opportunity to guide team members, monitor mold repair and rebuild intervals, and ensure the efficiency and safety of operations. Your leadership will be crucial in fostering a people-first culture that promotes individual growth and collaboration. You will also engage with various support groups and assist in the training and development of new employees, ensuring adherence to company policies and safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance to the Tooling Group team members.
  • Monitor mold repair and rebuild intervals.
  • Submit and approve capital expenses for the Tool Room and mold repairs.
  • Monitor efficiency reports and determine areas that require special attention.
  • Coordinate with all support groups including Maintenance, Scheduling, Molding, Printing, and Thermoform.
  • Keep staff informed on pertinent activities and information.
  • Assist other departments at other Berry Global facilities as needed.
  • Oversee policies to ensure safety and efficiency.
  • Oversee employee evaluations once a year.
  • Enforce all company policies, work rules, safety absolutes, and good work practices.
  • Understand all safety precautions of proper operation of machines and equipment used in job duties.
  • Oversee the development and training of new employees and direct their work habits.
  • Communicate and engage with vendors and suppliers for the Tool Room and order supplies as needed.
  • Troubleshoot problems in the molding process pertaining to the mold.
  • Assist in the training of new personnel.
  • Assist all Tool Room employees in their repair of molds or equipment.
  • Fully understand and utilize established QSI/ISO, HACCP, AIB, SQF, and GDC procedures.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED equivalent.
  • Preference given to candidates with advanced degrees or certificates.
  • Prior experience in mold making, industrial tool maintenance, or injection molding.
  • Ability to read technical drawings and prints.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Knowledge of basic measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
  • Previous experience with lathes, mills, grinders, etc. is preferred but not essential.
  • Knowledge of injection mold components, terminology, and their relationships.
