About the position

The Infusion Nurse at Promptcare is responsible for providing specialized nursing care to patients in their homes, focusing on administering intravenous medications and treatments. This role involves assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care plans, as well as educating patients and their families about home care and treatments. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills and a commitment to high-quality patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts initial nursing assessments and evaluations to qualify patients for appropriateness and safety of home infusion therapy.
  • Trains patients and/or caregivers in all procedures and equipment.
  • Develops and revises the patient's plan of care with the patient, family, Pharmacist, and physician.
  • Visits all assigned patients as ordered, documenting compliance, competence, and tolerance to prescribed therapy.
  • Provides direct patient care as ordered and allowed by state law.
  • Assumes on-call responsibility as assigned on a routine basis.
  • Inventories patient supplies and informs pharmacy of patient's needs.
  • Coordinates patient's care with other homecare agencies as necessary.
  • Counsels patients on therapy management, side effects, and other pertinent issues.
  • Collaborates with the Pharmacist for clinical recommendations for therapy changes.
  • Plans daily events to maximize efficiency in time management.
  • Submits professional nursing notes for each patient visit immediately following each IV therapy session.
  • Properly triages problems in the field according to company standards.
  • Maintains strong knowledge of PromptCare's Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Maintains compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and SOPs.
  • Delivers 'white glove' service to patients and family members.
  • Submits expense reports for travel monthly and in a timely manner.
  • Projects a positive attitude with patients and family members and participates in employee activities.
  • Makes every attempt to provide nursing services for PC per request, even on short notice.

Requirements

  • Must be a Registered Nurse in the state of employment and in good standing.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and automobile insurance.
  • Professional Liability Insurance required.
  • CPR Certification is necessary.
  • Knowledge of PIV, Mid-Line, PICC Line, Tunneled Catheters, and Ports is essential.
  • At least 2 years' experience as a home infusion nurse or equivalent experience in a field-based home nursing organization is required.
  • ED experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in IV insertion, vascular access devices, and infusion pumps.
  • Specific training and/or certification as a heart failure nurse is highly desirable.
  • Strong pediatric peripheral IV skills preferred.
  • Certified Nurse Infusionist (CRNI) preferred.
  • Experience with IV therapies such as inotropes, intravenous immunoglobulin, and Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN) is a major advantage.

  • Experience in pediatric nursing.
