About the position

Kennedy Jenks is seeking an exceptional Water/Wastewater Infrastructure Project Manager to join our team in Southern California. This role is ideal for a motivated, solutions-oriented leader who excels in a dynamic consulting environment. You will manage a variety of water and wastewater projects, including water pipelines, sewer systems, tanks/reservoirs, pump stations, and treatment facilities. As a Project Manager, you will oversee all phases of water and wastewater projects, ensuring compliance with contracts, drawings, specifications, codes, and regulations. You will coordinate with sub-consultants for scope, schedule, and budget, and communicate with clients to establish project goals and schedules. Your role will also involve coordinating internally for project resource allocation to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to the client's satisfaction. In addition to project management, you will supervise and support engineering and technical staff, including mentoring junior engineers. You will monitor the financial aspects of projects, track progress, and adjust resources as needed to meet project milestones and budgetary constraints. Implementing corrective actions when necessary will be crucial to achieving project success. Developing and maintaining strong client relationships will be a key part of your responsibilities, as will identifying project needs, proposing solutions, and leading client meetings to secure new business opportunities. You will also contribute to marketing and proposal efforts, including the preparation of winning proposals, scopes of work, and budgets for various projects. Documentation and compliance will be another critical aspect of your role, as you will oversee the preparation of engineering documents, contract documents, and project reports. Ensuring adherence to quality and safety practices, and coordinating with governing agencies for code compliance will be essential. You will serve as the point of contact with clients, lead the preparation of client presentations, and ensure compatibility with design intent by coordinating with project engineers and other disciplines.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in water/wastewater infrastructure projects, of which 2+ years in a project management role.
  • California Professional Engineer (PE) license or the ability to obtain California PE registration within 6 months of hire.
  • Strong technical knowledge of the water/wastewater industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide excellent client service and interact positively with clients.
  • Experience supporting business development.
  • Ability to travel to project sites and other Kennedy Jenks offices as needed.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
