About the position

The Information Systems Technology Intern position at Leidos is designed for students pursuing a degree in a related field. This remote role supports the Digital Modernization Group and involves assisting with the development of IT solutions, collaborating with Solution Architects, and participating in various technical projects. The intern will gain hands-on experience in coding, testing, and implementing IT solutions while ensuring alignment with business needs and organizational goals.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the development of tools supporting business operations.
  • Support new business solution architects in coding, testing, implementation, and documentation projects.
  • Conceptualize, design, construct, test, and implement portions of IT solutions using appropriate development life cycle methodologies.
  • Interact with Solution Architects to understand the business environment and technical context.
  • Assist with defining scope, plans, and deliverables for assigned projects.
  • Collect, identify, define, and organize detailed user and IT requirements.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with others to analyze collected requirements and data.
  • Participate in business and technical IT solution implementations, upgrades, enhancements, and conversions.
  • Apply metrics to monitor performance and measure key project criteria.
  • Prepare system documentation.
  • Establish and maintain security, integrity, and business continuity controls and documents.
  • Analyze, identify, and resolve business and technical problems using appropriate tools.
  • Participate in special studies and stay current on emerging tools, techniques, and technologies.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree from an accredited college/university in a related field of study.
  • Specialized experience in a single discipline such as cloud engineering, coding, network engineering, data engineering, or IT Performance Management.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office products including MS Word, MS Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
  • US citizenship required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) network support certification such as Network +.
  • Operating System (OS)/Application certification in Microsoft or Linux.
  • Defensive Cyber Certification such as Security+.
  • Knowledge of object-oriented or other programming languages.
  • Previous experience operating in development labs.
