About The Position

The St. Louis Public Library’s Schlafly Branch has an opening for a full-time Information Specialist. The Library values the talents and perspectives that a diverse workforce brings and how this positively impacts our services and customer base. The Information Specialist is enthusiastic, patient, and committed to providing excellent customer service and is comfortable working with the public and providing technology-related assistance.

Requirements

At least six months of customer service-related experience, or an associate’s degree, or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school.
Strong communication, writing, and presentation skills.
Strong organizational skills.
Ability to learn and use technology as the Library continues to evolve.
Friendly, patient and able to build relationships at all levels.
Able to see the big picture and promote consistency and excellence of service.
Capable of effectively presenting information and responding to questions from customers and staff.
Flexible, positive and willing to work with staff and colleagues to successfully overcome challenges.
Organized, detail-oriented and able to work with competing tasks and priorities.

Responsibilities

Assist customers with library card registration, and checking out and returning library materials.
Assist in preparation, delivery and receipt of Library materials; receive payment from customers.
Provide technology assistance to customers with Library equipment.
Assist with daily housekeeping operations, projects and opening and closing of the building.
Assist with programming as needed.
