About the position

The Infection Control and Occupational Health Nurse will play a crucial role in ensuring the health and safety of employees and patients by developing and implementing infection prevention strategies. This position involves collaboration with facility leadership and various agencies to maintain compliance with health regulations and promote overall wellness within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with facility leadership and the Director of Quality and Patient Safety to develop, implement, and evaluate annual infection prevention goals and action plans.
  • Partner with facility leaders and local, state, and national agencies on infection prevention activities.
  • Support a facility-wide system for the prevention, identification, investigation, and control of infections.
  • Conduct outbreak investigations and maintain a reporting system for communicable diseases.
  • Oversee the antibiotic stewardship program and monitor antibiotic use in collaboration with pharmacy leaders.
  • Assess the need for, develop, and present infection prevention and control education for departments and general orientation.
  • Develop and implement written policies and procedures for infection control.
  • Serve as a member of the quality assessment and assurance committee.
  • Maintain knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations related to infection control and ensure compliance.
  • Promote health and wellness among employees through education and preventive measures.
  • Conduct pre-employment screenings and evaluate employees with limitations or work restrictions.
  • Administer job-related vaccinations and conduct fitness for duty assessments.

Requirements

  • RN License within the State of Massachusetts required; BSN preferred.
  • Previous experience in infection control required.
  • Certified Infection Control certification (CIC) preferred.
  • Previous experience as an Occupational Health Nurse and use of Electronic Medical Records.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to use critical thinking to make decisions and solve problems.
  • Ability to collect, interpret, and report data.
