About the position

The Infant/Toddler Teacher Assistant at Aubrey Montessori is responsible for supporting the educational team in providing a nurturing and engaging environment for preschool-aged children. This role involves developing and implementing lesson plans, monitoring child development, and fostering positive relationships with students and parents. The ideal candidate will be passionate about early childhood education and committed to creating a safe and inclusive classroom atmosphere.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans and daily activities that promote learning through play and exploration.
  • Create a safe, welcoming, and inclusive classroom environment that encourages children to express themselves.
  • Monitor and assess each child's progress in various developmental areas, including social, emotional, cognitive, and physical skills.
  • Provide individualized support to children with special needs or those requiring additional assistance.
  • Foster positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues to create a collaborative educational community.
  • Maintain accurate records of children's progress and communicate effectively with parents regarding their child's development.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including first aid protocols.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and stay current with best practices in early childhood education.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred; relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Strong knowledge of childhood development principles and best practices in preschool education.
  • Experience working with preschool-aged children in a childcare or educational setting is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with special education strategies is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with children, parents, and staff.
  • Ability to create engaging lesson plans that cater to diverse learning styles.
  • Patience, creativity, and enthusiasm for working with young children are essential qualities for this role.
