About the position

Clackamas Community College (CCC) seeks to hire part-time Industrial Technology Instructor for available assignments during the academic year. Responsibilities

  • Instructs students in a classroom and provides student contact before and after class and by telephone, video conferencing, scheduled meetings or email exchanges during office hours.
  • Prepares, distributes and utilizes instructional support materials, including course syllabi, supplementary materials, instructional media and other devices as appropriate.
  • Structures classes and curriculum to correspond with the overall program objectives; prepares clear objectives for students for each course.
  • Develops and provides a learning environment that supports diversity and incorporates sensitivity to diversity within the college community.
  • Responsible for classroom and departmental equipment and provides for the security of facilities and instructional materials as appropriate.
  • Convenes classes on time and as scheduled.
  • Maintains evaluation and grading records for assigned students; enters grades and provides all necessary documentation for incompletes within established college timelines and guidelines.
  • Ensures and emphasizes safe working and classroom conditions and practices.
  • May direct aides and work study students as assigned.
  • Understands and uses the college's computer system.
  • Teaches course in manufacturing technology to adult technical students; delivers lecture materials, leads discussions and assesses learning.
  • Provides hands-on laboratory exercises that support the textbook theory.

Requirements

  • Ability to skillfully communicate in verbal, written and kinesthetic form.
  • 3-years of recent industry experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • A professional-level understanding of common manufacturing principles, graphical communications and related technical math.
  • Ability to develop and teach lab learning activities using industrial-grade machinery and components.
  • Basic computer skills including use of email, word processors and spreadsheets.
  • The ability to communicate effectively as a teacher and to operate as an effective member of a team.
  • Must be able to work respectfully with individuals of all cultures, backgrounds, perspectives and abilities.

Nice-to-haves

  • Formal degree in manufacturing technology or related field such as engineering or engineering technology.
  • Completed apprenticeship.
  • Experience with Windows XP and MS Office suite.
  • Desire to work with adult learners from diverse backgrounds, possess above average patience and have an ability to nurture students.
